Piano Teacher & Just Because

I made a Christmas Card for my daughters piano teacher. I used Musicabella from Stamping Bella. I did some distressing on the edges. I love the red, black, and white colour combination.

I bought this Leanne Ellis Designs-Sugar Nellie Stamps stamp because I love it but really had no reason to use it yet but I couldn't wait to ink it up so I made a Just Because blank card. I decided to do some experimenting with my Copics and inkpads on the background. The colouring leaves a lot to be desired but I still thought it deserved to be a card, so here it is...

Edward - Chill Out

I guess with all the Team Edward and Team Jacob hype for the New Moon release, I had making an Edward card on the brain. I had a colored image that Megan had colored and some paper that just went with it so well so I quickly made up this card. This is the only card I managed to do this week.

Cardmaking will most likely be nonexistent until after Christmas, due to the fact that I still have lots of quilts to finish before Christmas.

Punch Drunk

This is my entry to the Farm Fresh Friday Contest over at The Greeting Farm. Our challenge was to use punches. I think this card got a little crowded but I do like the color combination and the overall Asian feeling to it. I made this card for my niece who did something nice for me, and I think she will love it!

Even though the card below was featured on the Club Anya blog for Christmas inspiration, thanks so much Suzi, I decided to change the ribbon on this card from the previous post, as the ribbon going in behind Anya just didn't look right to me. I like it much better now.

Lizzy's Scraptastic Day

Yesterday, I spent the day making cards at Lizzy's Scraptastic Day I previously posted about here. It was so much fun, with good company, great food, and awesome giveaways.

I decided to work on some Christmas cards and practice colouring with my Copics and using my new Big Shot.

Here are the cards I made using the Snow Miss Anya from The Greeting Farm. The last one is one I made at home when my sister and niece came over for some card making.

The next 2 cards were a class taught by Carmen Peters who is a Stampin' Up demonstrator. They were so much fun!

The first is an owl card made using several different dies and punches from Stampin' Up. A new technique I hadn't used yet was sponging which we did to distress/emphasize the edges. I think it looks pretty cool.

The next card is a pop up card using Stampin' Up's ornament set on the front and a pop up tree using a Stampin' Up die. My kids think I was very clever but it is just a die designed to make the pop up tree. Actually, I felt like my fingers didn't want to cooperate when I was putting this together.

And I couldn't resist this final shot of all my cards lined up on the fireplace mantel. Enjoy

Update on Megan's Cards

We got together with my sister and niece and made a few cards. This is the card Megan made using the Gingerbell set I won from The Greeting Farm.

Megan is going to two birthday parties. She prefers to buy her friends gift cards and wanted to make cards to hold the gift cards. She came up with this concept herself; however, I did do the stitching. Both cards feature Shopping Miss Anya coloured in black with one feature color. I think Megan did an awesome job on the coloring. She prefers to colour with Faber Art pencil crayons.

The card below is Snow Miss Anya. Megan made this one for this weeks Farm Fresh Friday challenge at The Greeting Farm. The challenge is "Sans Frills". No ribbon or girly embellishments; however, buttons, brads or wire are allowed. Megan coloured this one with Copics and we had no designer paper for the background in the colours she used so we made some using cardstock we had on hand in this shade of green and stamped large purple snowflakes and then embossed using the Snowflake Cuddlebug folder. We had one purple button that matched perfectly so we had to use it in the centre of the snowflake.

A Few New Cards

Hello again. I've been away for awhile so I thought it was time for another post. My daughter loves coloring with my Faber Art pencil crayon set, and her shading is looking really good. Megan colored all the images on today's cards and I completed the layouts for her.

The first one is our "Emboss It" Farm Fresh Friday challenge. I heat embossed the sentiment and all of the snowflakes on the card using silver pigment ink and iridescent powder. The paper is from my Basic Grey stash and the main image is from Rain,Snow, Shine Miss Anya set over at The Greeting Farm. This one was really fun to put together.

The next one is an image from Miss Anya set. Isn't she gorgeous coloured in bright colors matching this K&Co. paper. I used the Creative Memories cutting systems to cut the ovals that the image is mounted on and the cute polka dot flower is from Prima.

This one is a groovy girlfriends Hippie Anya card with Prima flower embellishments and a nice ribbon from the sale bin at Michael's. Megan loves the ribbon because it goes all around to the inside of the card and it has blue flowers painted on it which looks kind of cool when you open up the card.

Hippie Anya

This is my entry for Club Anya's "I Wanna Be Just Like..." contest from Friday. The challenge is to CASE Lisa Hjulberg's card and create a card like it using and Anya stamp.

I decided to use my TGF Hippie Anya because I thought it would look cool with the tie-dyed paper made by Friskars that I bought in the mid 90's.

If I made this card again I would make it a little larger so more of the background paper behind the image background would be showing; it is a cool large print floral. Hippie Anya is coloured using copic markers.

Welcome to my cardmaking journal. I have a few passions that mostly encompass the fibre arts. At the beginning of June 2009 I started my design blog Marianne Penner Design which I decided would be mostly quilting focused with snippets of knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, scrapbooking, and cardmaking.

Even though I have made and given away many cards, I have never documented them so I have no record and my recollection of them is vague. Also, my 12 year old daughter and I enjoy cardmaking together; so, I have decided to start this blog separate from my other so I can keep a separate cardmaking journal of our journey into this wonderful craft.

I hope you enjoy what you see as much as I and my daughter enjoy making the cards!

I Won!

I'm so excited! I can't believe it, I've never won anything in a blog contest...until now!

This past weekend, there was a snippet blog hop over at The Greeting Farm. They were giving out one prize at each of the designers blogs to 1 lucky commenter and I won over at Jessica's blog. I won the Gingerbell set which is being released tomorrow. Jessica made a gorgeous card using this set. I can't wait to get it and ink it up!

On Friday's TGF usually posts a Farm Fresh Friday challenge and since I was in the card making groove I took the challenge. It was a sketch challenge.

Here is my entry using the Edward stamp fromTGF Wild Sprouts collection. When I made this card I was thinking of the beginning of the New Moon book when Edward leaves Bella for her own good. He must have spent many nights in the forest with his memories of her.

My daughter made another card too using the Edward stamp. She is getting really into this. You should see some of the coloring she did this weekend. I think there are some fabulous cards to come from her in the near future.

Club Anya Contest

This summer I discovered The Greeting Farm rubber stamps and I just love them. I ordered 2 Miss Anya sets, Geisha Anya, and Edward! I also bought a small selection of Copic Markers and tried them out for the first time last night.

Last night my daughter and I finally inked them up. Want to see what we made? I've never entered a contest/challenge before but Club Anya has a contest going on right now and I couldn't resist. The contest is to case a card made by the incredibly talented Pam Varnell and then to make one similar using one of the Anya or Ian stamps.

This was the perfect opportunity to use my Geisha Anya. Folks, I am so in love with this stamp that I dream about her at night. I know, I need help! Here she is.

Front view - I decided to stamp a few extra flowers from Geisha Anya's hair and use them for the corner embellishments.

Back view - I decided to do the card with a centre split in the back to make it look like a oriental armroire or a screen.

My daughter is in love with the Miss Anya stamps, makes sense since she is 12 and these sets are designed with teenagers in mind. I'm so impressed with her card! It was so much fun creating alongside her.

She decided to use Rain from the Rain, Snow, Shine set. Didn't she do an awesome job?
